Some of you were used to more regular blog posts and photography tutorials. And one of the reasons why you have seen fewer of them recently is because I have been pretty busy with my commercial photography in Vietnam.
From travel to commercial photography
Even though I started photography over 15 years ago, I have spent most of my career as a photographer teaching photography. First with Hoi An photo tour and workshop, and later, as you know, with Pics of Asia.
Over the years I have been doing some commercial photography. A few hotels here and there, some food, weddings and family photos in Hoi An old town. But this never was my priority as my passion is in teaching travel photography, and running photography tours and workshops in Hoi An and the rest of Asia kept me very busy.
Then the pandemic hit us all. Pretty hard for the people living from tourism. My photography tours businesses went into hibernation for a while, which gave me plenty of time to do absolutely nothing to develop my commercial photography and videography business in central Vietnam.
Danang Photographer
I launched Danang Photographer several years ago but never took the time to develop this commercial photography business seriously. Covid was the perfect excuse to finally get into it!
Danang Photographer is now one of the leading commercial photography and video businesses in Vietnam. Not only we have managed to keep busy during the pandemic, but we have done some fantastic assignments all over the country. From luxury hotels to restaurants and fashion photography, it has been a very exciting adventure.
Over the past couple of years we have been working with hospitality clients like the Four Seasons and Intercontinental hotels, but also with companies like Ubisoft or with influencers. We feel pretty confident about the future given the good start we’ve had!
I have also very much enjoyed the opportunity to get into video. It was a great challenge but so rewarding. If you are into photography, I highly suggest you give it a try, it’s just so much fun! You find your light, you composer around your subject, same as you would do with photography, but then add motion and effects!
Here is a selection of my most recent favourite commercial photos.
If you are into travel photography and photography tours, do not fret! Our tours are back big time, in Hoi An and the rest of Asia. Time to hit the road again!
Congratulations on the success of your “side project”, Etienne – – Example shots are excellent.
