Lee Starnes

I got my start in Thailand over 10 years ago shooting small assignments for a newspaper in Phuket, Thailand. Photojournalism serves as my foundation, and thus, storytelling sits at the forefront of how I approach photography. The ability to form bonds and share stories is a tradition as old as humanity.

While the tools change, the communal and social value of telling stories remains as important as ever. Using the visual medium of photography, and especially travel photography for me, gives the opportunity to share experiences and build relationships with people from all over the world. In the last decade, I’ve traveled all over the Asia Pacific having a few coffees, a maybe more than a few beers and hearing endless stories.

I’ve shot stories for The Guardian, CNN, and various other international outlets. When I’m not on assignment, I’m spending time with my wife, Urica, our dog, Barley. I’m currently based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
