The first Vietnam photo tour of the year: magic conditions.

Last month I ran the first official Vietnam photo tour of the year for Pics of Asia. A private photography tour that would take us to the beautiful lagoon located between Hoi An and Hue city. We were not sure how the weather would play, as January had seen some pretty bad conditions. Lucky for us, we witnessed some pretty magic conditions.

Between winter and summer

I know it took a while for me to write this post, but my photography tours in Hoi An are back in full swing. I am also very busy with commercial photography with several hotel photo and video shoots. (LINKD)

Central Vietnam offers pretty unique weather compared to the rest of the country, with a different rainy season than in the North or South of the country. Even though January is no longer the rainy season, we often face grey skies and light rains throughout the month. January this year was actually pretty rubbish in Hoi An.

But when the call for a great photography tour happens, I must answer. I was booked for a 2-day private photo tour and we decided to go and revisit the amazing lagoon that we visit on my 3-day central Vietnam photo tour.

January and February are the only months of the year we can witness and capture mist and fog around Hoi An, Danang and Hue. It makes for some wonderful moody photos which is a welcome change from the usual “exotic” look of the area.

Still one of the best locations for a photo tour in central Vietnam

I just love this lagoon. Every single visit offers new surprises and photo opportunities. The people are great and the quality of light, in the early morning, is unique.

I hope you enjoy these images. I am super pumped to be running so many photo tours and workshops again and travelling around, that I have launched plenty of tours for 2023. Check the calendar if you haven’t already!
