For the second time, Pics of Asia is taking you on an unforgettable Cambodia photography tour and workshop—this time in collaboration with Regis from Asia Travel Photography. With years of combined experience running photo tours across Cambodia, we’ve designed an adventure that blends expert mentoring with access to unique locations.
Starting and ending in Siem Reap, this Cambodia photo tour focuses on capturing both the iconic and the hidden sides of the country. We’ll photograph life around Tonle Sap Lake during the vibrant rice planting season, discover lesser-visited corners of the majestic Angkor temples, and spend time with monks in their monasteries. This is an opportunity to sharpen your photography skills while experiencing Cambodia’s culture, people, and landscapes in the most authentic way.

Day 1 – Arrival in Siem Reap & Welcome Dinner
Your driver will meet you at the airport and bring you to our hotel in Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor. For those arriving early, there will be time to explore the lively streets nearby. In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner in a traditional Khmer restaurant—an opportunity to meet the group, share expectations, and prepare for the exciting Cambodia photography journey ahead.
Day 2 – Ancient Temples & Tonlé Sap Lake Village
We begin our journey at jungle-covered temples that feel like they’ve been lost in time, their stones wrapped in giant roots and glowing under soft morning light. After lunch, we head to Kampong Phluk, the famous “city on stilts” perched at the edge of the Tonlé Sap Lake. We’ll explore the floating houses by boat before stepping into the village itself, where daily life unfolds in ways unique to this part of Cambodia — fishermen repairing nets, children paddling between houses, and families preparing meals over wood fires.
Day 3 – Bustling Markets & Sunset in Battambang
Our morning starts in one of Siem Reap’s busiest markets, alive with colorful produce, exotic spices, and locals engaged in fast-paced bargaining. After capturing this whirlwind of activity, we drive west to Battambang. As we arrive, we’ll climb above the treeline for a magical sunset over rice fields and villages, where the warm light paints the countryside in gold.
Day 4 – Monks, Countryside Life & Floating Village
We begin in a quiet monastery near Battambang, where young monks in saffron robes welcome us into their morning rituals. From there, the day unfolds into a mosaic of Cambodian life: families rolling rice paper, villagers drying fish, and markets filled with movement and noise. In the afternoon, we board boats to visit a floating village on Tonlé Sap, gliding across glassy waters to photograph wooden homes, boats, and the resilient communities who call the lake their home.
Day 5 – Clay Artisans & Crossing the Tonlé Sap
This morning is dedicated to the incredible clay artisans of Kampong Chhnang, where potters shape vessels using centuries-old techniques. You’ll have rare access to photograph these craftsmen up close as they mold, carve, and fire their creations. Afterward, we embark on a journey across the vast Tonlé Sap, photographing fishermen and stilt houses along the way before reaching the quiet town of Kampong Thom by evening.
Day 6 – Immersed in Rural Kampong Thom
Today we slow down to truly absorb the essence of rural Cambodia. From rice fields alive with farmers at work to ox-drawn carts and children walking to school, every moment is a chance to capture authenticity. We’ll wander through villages, sit with locals, and document daily life, creating meaningful portraits that tell the story of Cambodia’s heartland.
Day 7 – Countryside & Return to Siem Reap
The morning is devoted to more countryside photography — farmers bent over emerald rice paddies, markets alive with morning trade, and village temples tucked under shady trees. After lunch, we drive back to Siem Reap, arriving in time to shoot another sunset among the temples, where fading light gives the ancient stones an otherworldly glow.
Day 8 – Angkor Temples & Hidden Monasteries
This morning we step into the mystical Ta Prohm, where enormous tree roots snake around temple walls, creating surreal compositions. The afternoon brings quieter moments in lesser-known pagodas, where monks perform timeless Buddhist rituals in an atmosphere few visitors ever experience.
Day 9 – Misty Back-Temples, Monastery Blessings & Tonlé Sap Village
We begin the morning among Angkor’s back-temples, photographing mist drifting through jungle roots and the quiet, weathered stones. Later we visit local monasteries to witness and record blessing ceremonies—rituals, offerings, and monks at prayer. In the afternoon we head to one of the Tonlé Sap’s most photogenic floating villages to shoot stilt houses, boats, lakeside commerce, and the shifting light over the water.
Day 10 – Countryside Encounters & Circus Magic
The morning takes us deeper into rural life — from villages where families weave mats or hunt spiders, to fields alive with agricultural work. Later, we gain exclusive backstage access to Phare, the Cambodian Circus, where young performers rehearse and prepare their makeup. Photograph the energy and colors up close before enjoying the thrilling evening show with VIP seating — a highlight of modern Cambodian culture.
Day 11 – Silk Factory & Iconic Angkor Wat
Our last full day begins in a traditional silk weaving workshop, where the rhythmic clack of looms and vibrant threads create a feast for the eyes. After lunch, we return to the crown jewel of Cambodia: Angkor Wat. Photograph this monumental temple in the shifting afternoon light, where shadows and reflections in the moat make for unforgettable compositions. It’s the perfect finale to our Cambodian adventure.
Day 12 – Departure from Siem Reap
Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy one last optional shooting session at one of our favorite locations, before saying goodbye. Airport transfers will be arranged for all participants. End of tour.
