Hoi An after Noru Storm
If you follow the news, you may have seen that a massive storm, called Noru, made landfall in central Vietnam last week. It was one of the most significant storms ever recorded in the area, and the damages were quite consequent. I spent a few hours in Hoi an old town taking photos the day after the Noru storm.
I didn’t venture outside my house before the storm was well ended, as I had a few things to clean and fix up (mostly in my garden, which looked like a battlefield when we woke up). But I did venture into the old town for a bit, enjoying the reflections from the flooded streets.
Hoi an old town was actually very busy right after the Noru storm. Lots of tourists and locals alike flocked to the old town to see the flooded streets, a yearly tradition. The crowded streets created an interesting contrast with all the destruction. Disaster tourism they call it?
Here is a short series of images taken in Hoi an old town after the Noru storm.
Now that the storm has passed, we can enjoy some pretty good light in Hoi An. Time to go back and run our daily photography tours in the area, and to get ready for our upcoming Bangladesh photography tour!
