My favourite photos for 2024... so far!

Hoi An Photography

Before I venture into my international photography tours (I will begin in a week with a photography tour in Cambodia!) I'd like to share with you my favourite photos for 2024, captured in Vietnam in 2024. Most of these images were taken while running Hoi An Photo Tours, and they are all from central Vietnam. This year has been incredible for candid people photography, with vibrant markets, serene landscapes, and the unique daily lives of locals providing endless inspiration.

Photography Tours in Vietnam

Central Vietnam continues to be a treasure trove for photographers. From the idyllic market of Hoi An Old Town to the hectic fishing villages of the central coast, the diversity of scenes and subjects is truly remarkable. One of my favorite moments this year was capturing all the unexplored fish markets of Phu Yen Province during my giant central Vietnam photo tour. The energy and authenticity of these scenes are unmatched, making Vietnam an ideal destination for those seeking genuine, unposed moments.

I also used this opportunity to fly the drone. This isn't something I have done very much for my travel photography, as I love to be in direct contact with my subjects, but Phy Yen Province is so stunning that I enjoyed the experience a lot.

Candid People Photography

Candid people photography remains a cornerstone of my work. There's something magical about capturing unguarded moments that reveal the true essence of a place and its people. Whether it’s a bustling market in Vietnam, a tranquil village in Laos, or a colourful festival in Thailand, these moments bring our photos to life and connect us to the cultures we explore.

This is the reason why I love candid photography and I will never stage my travel photos. By the way, I have a brand new tutorial that talks about using layers for people photography in order to come up with more creative photographs.

I’m excited to share my favourite photos of 2024 with you and hope they inspire you to join one of my photography tours in Vietnam or other parts of Asia. Together, we can continue to capture the beauty and authenticity of these incredible destinations through the art of candid people photography.
