The Best of Central Vietnam: A 2026 Photography Tour Summary
Beyond the Grey: Finding the Soul of Central Vietnam
We just wrapped up another incredible edition of the Best of Central Vietnam photography tour, and it was a powerful reminder that the best images aren't always born from blue skies. While the weather wasn't always on our side this time around, the moody atmosphere only added to the depth of our storytelling as we navigated the region’s most off-the-beaten-track locations. From the quiet mist over the lagoons to the timeless rhythm of village life far from the tourist crowds, the rewards of staying curious—rain or shine—were immense.
In this blog post, I want to share a selection of my favorite images from the trip and take you behind the lens of what makes a Vietnam photography workshop so uniquely rewarding, even when Mother Nature has other plans.
Exploring the Best Photography Spots in Asia: A Central Vietnam Retrospective
We began this photography tour in the newly merged province of Dak Lak (formerly Phu Yen). This area is totally away from the tourist tracks and is so beautiful. As I say, this area will one day become one of the best area to visit in Vietnam.
After some days in the South, we made our way to Hoi An (my home base for almost 20 years!) to visit the best villages in the area. As we got rained on for a whole afternoon, we did spend more time in Hoi An Old Town, as well as exploring villages where we could find indoor activities.
We also spent a night along the lagoons between Danang and Hue. We were very unlucky with the weather on that part of the photo tour, but we managed to dodge most of the rain and make the best of the locations we visited!
