Contact sheet #8
Maybe a little longer than usual, but surely a more interesting contact sheet. I am sure you will enjoy it.
Yesterday I got a call from Philip, an Ozie travelling through Hoi An and whom I met 3 years ago when he joined my sunrise tour, who asked me if I was running a more “advanced” photography tour in Hoi An. As I try as much as possible to cater for everyone joining the tours, it can sometimes be very basic if everyone is on a beginner level, or it could be more advanced. But it is somehow random. So instead, Philip booked a private workshop and asked me if we could hit the countryside. And of course, I had the perfect spot for him
Of course, I had told myself a few hours earlier that I should try to keep a few mornings available for sleeping as the last weekend’s photography workshop had been heavy on me, but hey, when you got the passion you forget about sleep!
So, I picked him up from his hotel at 4.30am and we headed to my new area, where we were about to spend the next one and a half hour in the water. Unlike last time I was there with my buddy Drew Hopper (the guy’s famous!), today there was a couple pulling a big net, catching small (tiny) fish that they were going to sell to people so they could grow them.
So here’s how it all happened.
Beautiful images Etienne, one day I hope to be in Hoi An when you are and do this exact thing! Third time lucky maybe…..
I love to read about people’s thought process when shooting. How you remembered all that!! Beautiful images!!

I really like the way you explain your process to take your photos. it’s very informative and rewarding.
